Having a
good marketing strategy starts with effective messaging. Sometimes it takes
trying different things to see what works for your business to maximize your
sales and highlight your business. You want to have people coming to you to do
business so how can you attract prospective clients?
1. Branding – have a clear brand image that is easily recognizable. Does your logo best represent your business?
2. Know your strengths and weaknesses. What are your opportunities or threats?
3. Research your target audience. You can do this by analyzing any data you have on your clients.
4. Advertise and/or post on social media – Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Alignable, Next Door, Twitter, YouTube or TikTok. Get your customers and fans involved to help you promote your business.
5. CONTENT IS KING (OR QUEEN)! Create compelling content that people want to talk about and share – if you don’t know how, we can help with it at https://welcomewagon.com. Our services are not free but there is great value for the price, and we ease your burden.
6. Make sure you have good Facebook & Instagram pages and join groups. Group pages are a great way to add content and create exposure for your company.
7. Connect with Chambers of Commerce, Networking groups or City Groups. There are also organizations such as Rotary Clubs. Find out what is available in your town.
8. Email your clients. You can easily start an email campaign. Are you capturing your clients’ info so you can reach out when you have some news or special promotions?
9. Get creative! Create a newsletter, like this: https://welcomewagon.com/blog/.
10. Are you able to do some local community outreach? Visit fellow businesses or neighbors and let them know abut your business and services you offer.
11. Send out press releases. Most newspapers (online or print) will publish for free or at a low cost, as well as any community websites, Chambers or networking groups.
12. Think! What are your greatest opportunities for success?
13. Have a plan (or strategy) – a systemic plant of action.
14. Create a strategy board.
15. Write down your goals. What do you want to achieve?
16. Share things you are doing in the community. Do you have any charitable affiliations, or do you use recycled goods? Are you environmentally conscious?
17. Build a budget to increase your marketing. You can start small. Every bit counts.
18. Know the competition. Who are your main competitors and what are they doing for marketing? How can you stand out? What sets you apart from your competition?
19. Think about what your customers need you to be.
20. Talk to people. Word of mouth can be an exceptional way to build your business.
21. Can you offer a gift or really good discount on your services for first time customers? You can promote that as well.
22. Take free online courses or get free eBooks to learn about the business areas you want to be more knowledgeable in.
23. Have a brainstorming session with your team and ask them for ideas to promote the business for little to no money. You never know where a good idea will come from.
24. Measure your results. Determine the best KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) to evaluate how your initiatives are doing. There are some things you may not be able to measure but if they are low or no cost, it might be ok to let it roll.
To sum it up, there are
many ways to develop an effective marketing strategy. Everything mentioned here
is a great place to start. Check out the many affordable options and see how
much of your budget you can allocate to your marketing efforts. There are many
